launches Diakyur

AMRUTANJAN
Ltd, the 108-year-old company, has launched here an anti-diabetic
product under the brand ‘Diakyur’. The product, formulated
by the Amrutanjan Herbal Research and Development team, was tested
and approved by Dr A L Mudaliar Post-Graduate Institute of Basic
Medical Sciences, University of Madras.
According
to P Easwaradas, executive vice-president of the company, time tested
and proven herbs, which have been clinically and scientifically
tested, have been used in formulating Diakyur. The product has proven
antioxidant activity while also doubling up as a nervine tonic,
a cardiac stimulant and energy stimulant. He said that all early
symptoms of diabetes could be successfully arrested as the product
helped in controlling and maintaining blood glucose at normal levels.
The dosage level was arrived at after detailed histopathological
studies.
Easwaradas
said Diakyur should be initially taken along with the allopathic
drugs consumed by a patient and within three months the blood glucose
level would begin to normalise, and within a fortnight one may see
its effect in most cases.
Once
the glucose level begins to normalise, the intake of allopathic
medicines could be reduced gradually and Diakyur can be continued
with proper dietary restrictions and regular exercise.
The
trials conducted by IBMS has revealed that Diakyur was put to test
for its hypoglycaemic and toxicity effects through experiments on
rats and rabbits and the product is stable for human consumption.
The
product also went clinical trials at Chennai. ‘‘It was
tested on 40 diabetic patients and 35 showed progress with the intake
of this formulation. The remaining five patients did not turn up
to the hospitals after taking the medicine. Results were also encouraging
in type I patients (insulin-dependent)’’, he claimed.
The
company had already launched this product in the markets of Tamil
Nadu and Kerala and the response has been good, he said. Diakyur
comes in capsule form and is priced at Rs 2.50 per capsule. Amrutanjan
has over 3.5 lakh retailers and 1750 stockists all over India.
